Nobody’s job.
Until it’s everyone’s problem.

I look after the technology small businesses in the Fraser Valley run on — the setup, the backups, the accounts, the quiet things that only get attention the morning they stop. A price agreed before I start, and everything left in your name.

01 What I do

Most of it is unglamorous. That’s exactly why it’s been sitting there for two years.

It isn’t anyone’s fault. A business runs for years on a setup assembled by whoever was nearest a keyboard at the time, and there is never a good week to deal with it.

  • Setting things up

New computers, email and file storage. Getting everything off the old machine without losing the one folder that actually mattered, and setting the new one up the way you already work rather than the way the box came.

  • Backups worth having

A backup you have never restored from is a rumour. I set one up on site and off site, restore a file from it while you watch, and show you how to check it yourself in thirty seconds a month.

  • Locks on the doors

A password manager everyone will actually use, two-factor on the accounts that matter, and closing the logins of people who left in 2021. Not exciting, and it stops most of what really happens.

  • When something breaks

The laptop that takes four minutes to boot. The printer nobody in the back office can reach. The shared drive that quietly stopped existing on a Tuesday. On site or remotely, whichever gets you working sooner.

  • Networks and Wi-Fi

Wi-Fi that reaches the back office and the yard. Guest traffic kept away from your files. A router that belongs to you rather than whatever the internet company left behind.

  • Domains, email and hosting

Your own domain in your own account. Email that does not land in spam, with the records set so nobody can send mail pretending to be you. A website that stays up.

02 The stance

I would rather tell you something isn’t worth doing than sell you a bigger version of it.

If a forty dollar subscription solves your problem, I will say so, and you can decide whether you still want me involved.

Nobody pays me a commission or a referral fee, which is the whole reason I can tell you when the cheap option is fine. I would rather be the person you call in three years than the person who billed you well once.

03 How it works

A conversation, a look at what you have, a number, then the work.

There is no discovery call that turns into a proposal that turns into a retainer. If the number needs to change, you hear it from me before it happens rather than on the invoice.

Step 01
A free conversation, about twenty minutes.
Step 02
A look at what you actually have.
Step 03
A written number you approve first.
Step 04
The work, scheduled around you.
Step 05
One page of documentation you keep.

Tell me what’s going on. A few lines is plenty.

You don’t need to diagnose it for me. Working out the cause is the job.
