On site across the Fraser Valley with the travel included, and remote anywhere in Canada. Being local is not a slogan here — it decides whether someone can stand in your office this afternoon.
The run, west to east.
If you are between two of these, you are still in it.
- Pitt Meadows
- The western end of the run, down the north side of the river. Comfortably a same-day trip.
- Maple Ridge
- Half an hour west along the Lougheed. Close enough that a job needing two visits does not need two quotes.
- Mission
- Home. If you are in town I can usually be standing in your office the same day you ask.
- Abbotsford
- Straight over the bridge. The largest business base in the Valley, and the shortest trip I make that crosses the river.
- Chilliwack
- East along the highway, and a routine visit rather than an expedition.
- Agassiz & Harrison
- The far end. Worth planning a single longer visit around rather than three short ones — which is a scheduling matter, not a pricing one.
- In between
- Deroche, Dewdney, Hatzic, Yarrow, Rosedale, Sumas Prairie and the rural roads either side. Same terms.
Out here, the internet is part of the problem.
A good deal of advice written for businesses in cities quietly assumes a connection that a farm on Sumas Prairie, a shop up Dewdney Trunk or a yard outside Agassiz does not have. Put everything in the cloud, runs the advice. Back up over the wire overnight. It will be fine.
A cloud-only setup is a wonderful idea until the day the line goes down and the whole business is a paperweight.
So the honest answer in the rural parts of this Valley is usually a mix: something local you can reach when the connection cannot, and something off site for the day the building floods. Which way the balance falls depends on your line, and I would rather look at it than guess.
Same for Wi-Fi. Coverage written for an open-plan office does not survive a shop with a steel wall down the middle of it, a yard, or a barn seventy metres from the router. That is a solvable problem, but not by buying a bigger box from the same shelf.
Remote, anywhere in Canada.
Accounts, email, domains, backups, password management and most of what goes wrong with them do not care where either of us is standing. Remote work is charged at the same rate as on site, and it is usually faster for you because there is no drive at the front of it.
What genuinely needs someone in the room is the physical layer — cabling, a switch, Wi-Fi that has to be walked and measured, a machine that will not power on. If you are outside the Valley and the job turns out to be one of those, I will tell you plainly that you want somebody local for that part.
